Friday 11 September: Start of season social and farewell to Eliza
7.30 O’Neills followed by kareoke in The Model Inn

Saturday 19 September: Black tie gala evening at the Grape and Olive. Have you joined the Facebook event? If not, let me know. I need final numbers by this Saturday. Tickets are £25 for a three-course dinner, live music and presentation.

Also 19 September is the WKA taster session so think about who you can bring to try korfball. It’s a Talybont 12.30-2.

Saturday 3 October: social to be decided but keep the afternoon and the evening free. More info to follow! Might involve booze and bikes!

Friday 6 November: this event will involve food and fun. More details to follow!

News and Socials

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Lots of exciting developments amongst Cardiff Dragons, with congratulations going to James and Kate on the birth of their first child, Elizabeth Laura; and to Rachel and Gareth on their engagement. As both developments seem likely to reduce how much korfball we’re going to get out of them, our congratulations may be through gritted teeth though!

We also have several socials lined up:

Monday 10th Nov, Pub Quiz, Little O’Neills, 7.30pm

Saturday 15th Nov, Bond Night, joint with Cardiff City. More details: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=35095642162

Friday 5th Dec, Mulled Wine Night, Chrissy’s House

Upcoming events

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

19th April.

Welsh Championship Final, Dragons vs Cyclones

Afterwards will be a Welsh korfball gala night, black tie at UWIC Student Union bar.

17 May

Dragons agm and Awards Night

Discuss important issues during the day, get drunk and applaud/laugh at your teammates in the evening. The awards night is traditionally the big club social of the year.

Training finished for Xmas

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

While there’s still the big game to come on Saturday, we’re not going to have any more training until the January 7th. Instead we’ll be heading to the Mochyn Du, off Cathedral Road, for a pre-xmas drink or tw0 next Monday, starting from 7pm.

No training on the 29th October

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Because Cardiff High is closed for half-term, we’ll be training at the Slug and Lettuce in town from 7 pm, rather than in a sports hall as usual. Training resumes as normal on the 5th November.

Awards Galore

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

April saw our club awards night and the league awards, in which several Dragons players gained recognition. Only 1 Dragons player managed to make it into the team of the year, compared to 4 for Bristol City which shows how well we played as a team to beat them. Twice.

Full winners and more photos below.

Upcoming Socials

Monday, December 11th, 2006

Thanks in particular to Helen’s organisational efforts:

Tuesday, 12th December: Mixed Netball 6-8pm

The Korfball Kings and Queens (catchy name, huh) came 4th, and we only lost by one goal to the eventual winners.

Saturday, 16th December: Drinking (and y’know talking and stuff)

Bar 33 (on Windsor Place), 8pm. See you there.

Tuesday, 19th December: More Drinking

Joint social with Cardiff City

Friday, 22nd December: Christmas Social

Tiger Tiger, 7.30pm. Tables already booked, but anyone else is welcome to come along later to join us for drinks

Bowling Social

Monday, December 11th, 2006

Bowling! We all went down to the Hollywood Bay for some 10 pin bowling (or 9 pin in Hannah’s case), except Sian, who decided to go to Newport Road instead.

The first games were won by Gareth and Taff respectively, the second by Julie and Joey. Magnus cheated disgracefully – but nonetheless congratulations from the club to him and Anna, who are expecting their first child. Josh had a less successful evening, finishing last both times and then winning the world record for the most poorly worded anecdote.

Taff and Joey then went mano a mano on the dance machine. We hope to have video footage of this on the website soon, but until then ask Caroline if you want to see it (Chris, she’s tall, light-brown hair, someone should be able to point her out to you).

All good fun, and thanks to Helen for organising.
