Seconds Retain League Title, Firsts also win
Excellent pair of victories for the Dragons teams, brief reports and updated (top of the) tables follows…
Cardiff Dragons II 8-4 Cardiff City II, Magnus Dons (3), Caroline Lowdon (2), Josh Cockburn (2), Joey Niblett (1), Amy Shillabeer, Julie Saunders, Gareth Thomas, Gwenno Jones, Hannah Blackmore, Pete Obee
An 8-4 victory over Cardiff City 2 in a game that was much tighter than the score suggests meant that Dragons 2 are now uncatchable in the Second Division. A strong team perfomance saw goals and opportunities spread around very well, and a solid defence meant that City were forced to rely largely on long shots for their goals. Thanks to Jack for bravely agreeing to ref.

Cardiff Dragons 9-4 Cardiff City, Chris Gubby (5), Remco Broekhuis (2), Angharad Morgan (1), Rachel Knight (1), Helen Gubby, Joey Niblett, Lee O’Sullivan, Sian Hunt
The firsts also won well, recovering well from trailing 3-4 to win 9-4, holding Cardiff City scoreless throughout the second half. This result sets up (effectively) a winner takes all clash with Bristol City on Saturday. A win will guarantee Dragons the title, a draw or a loss would leave us needing an improbable sequence of other results to go our way. However if we take the form from this game forward then we should be very confident.
