Welsh Korfball recognised by IKF

On Thursday 28th of December, while the rest of us were trying to recover from our christmas gluttony, the International Korfball Federation formally admitted the Welsh Korfball Association, which became the 50th country to be affiliated. As well as being a clear indication of the progress made by korfball in Wales over the last few years, this also has a couple of practical benefits for Cardiff Dragons.

The most obvious is that Welsh clubs will move towards eligibility for European tournaments, with entry into the Europa Shield as the first target. It will also see the Welsh national team increase their competiveness on the international scene, with participation in the Western division of the European Bowl to be held in Luxembourg in May as an early test. This progress can only benefit the Dragons players who are in the national squad or pushing for inclusion.

The Welsh Korfball Association is to be congratulated on all its hard work in achieving this.
