The second team game opened with a quick long shot from Dragons player, Rachel Knight, sharply followed by a second nifty running-in shot. The University team attempted a succession of short shots that bounced off the rim, but eventually they were awarded a penalty, scored by Jack McNamara putting the score at 2-1. McNamara, who has been training with the Dragons, put that experience to further good use as he then netted the equaliser.
However, this put Knight back in attack, and she soon claimed her hat-trick with another precise long shot, putting Dragons 3-2 ahead at half time.
A raft of substitutions at half-time by both sides disrupted the play somewhat, but one of the players who stayed on the pitch was Gareth Thomas and despite coming up against a Wlsh international on his debut for Dragons showed increasing confidence as the match progressed. Dragons finally managed to get their male players into scroing positions, with both Steve Fung and James Frost scoring before Knight sealed a 6-3 victory with her fourth goal.
